Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking GCSE English and Maths tutors to work with secondary learners across Halton. The role involves delivering focused 1:1 tuition to students who may have gaps in their education or require extra support with GCSE studies.

You’ll plan engaging sessions, identify areas for development and help learners build the knowledge and confidence required to progress. This role offers flexible hours (5–15 hours per week) starting September 2026 and is ideal for qualified tutors

Qualifications

• Experience teaching GCSE English and/or Maths.
• Strong knowledge of the GCSE curriculum.
• QTS, PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification preferred.
• Ability to adapt lessons to suit individual learners.

Experience, Training and Qualifications

We’re looking for candidates with:

• Experience teaching GCSE English and/or Maths
• Strong knowledge of the relevant GCSE curriculum
• QTS, PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification (preferred)
• The ability to adapt lessons to suit individual learners

To be eligible, you must:

• Hold the Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
• Provide two professional child-related references
