Qualifications

Jones Engineering GC Commercial Lead Job Description

Jones Engineering is seeking a GC Commercial Lead to manage the commercial aspects and project delivery on a project in the London Area, United Kingdom.

Our company has invested heavily in leaner working methods, challenging traditional project delivery approaches to increase efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability, and to reduce project timelines from Basis of Design (BOD) to Facility (FR).

We are specialists in fast-track Modular Construction and offer integrated design through to Off-Site Manufacturing/Assembly, delivering fully tested and CE/UKCA marked products for site infrastructure integration.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to lead a team of professionals, interface with clients, and deliver high-quality, commercially viable solutions.

Role/Requirements
  • The GC Commercial Lead will oversee commercial activities and ensure successful project delivery, including site integration where applicable. Candidates must have a strong background in construction and commercial disciplines.
  • Assist in pursuing new projects by participating in pre-bid meetings, defining scope, schedule, and budget, preparing proposals, and leading client presentations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and commercial teams to establish project scope and deliverables.
  • Develop project execution plans covering scope, schedule, communication, delivery, and handover.
  • Maintain resource plans and schedules, and manage budgets, interfacing regularly with the finance team.
  • Identify and assess project risks, providing weekly status reports.
  • Build and maintain positive client relationships and manage consultants and contractors as needed.
  • Candidate should possess excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial), or a related Commercial discipline.
  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in construction, engineering, or manufacturing industries.
  • Proven experience in commercial project delivery, budgeting, procurement, and resource planning.
  • Experience with pre-bid/tender processes and client-facing presentations.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with construction contracts, procurement, and supplier management.
  • Ability to coordinate with engineering/design, commercial, and manufacturing teams.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Energetic, proactive, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
