Position Announcement: Men’s Head Basketball Coach – Part-time

CCSNH has established employer status within the New England states (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island). In compliance with CCSNH policies and state regulations, eligibility for employment within CCSNH and its institutions requires residency within a New England state.

Great Bay Community College (GBCC) invites applications for the position of head men’s basketball Coach to begin recruitment of student athletes immediately and on court coaching duties to begin in the Fall of 2025. This is a part-time stipend position that reports to the Director of Athletics. GBCC men’s basketball is a member of the Yankee Small College Conference and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).

The men’s basketball program at GBCC plays in both the Fall and Spring semester. Duties include, but are not limited to: all aspects of coaching and administrating a collegiate basketball program; the successful recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes; scheduling practices; assist with the oversight and management of men’s basketball facility; hiring and supervision of assistant coaching staff; driving team vans; and assist with team fundraising initiatives.

Successful candidates should have a background as either a player or coach at the collegiate level or demonstrated coaching experience at the high school level. Candidates with the ability to recruit student athletes successfully and to lead in all facets of coaching a collegiate men’s basketball program will be considered.

Great Bay Community College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Job Description

  • Coach the Great Bay Community College men’s basketball team, providing guidance to players' academic and

athletic experience.

  • Recruit student athletes to join the team to complete a full roster (18), which is necessary to

compete in the determined governing body each academic year.

  • Determine student eligibility for participation.
  • Monitor student athletes' academic progress, providing appropriate academic supervision to

ensure student success and completion of degree or certificate requirements.

  • Assist in developing home and away participation schedules (out of conference schedule)

Additional General Duties

Ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, and policies outlined in the Great Bay Community

College Athletic Department Coaches Handbook as well as USCAA & YSCC by laws.

  • Demonstrate continued professional growth by staying current in and expanding knowledge of

men’s basketball coaching techniques through a plan of professional development.

  • Attend scheduled athletic contests, attend professional conferences and required institutional

meetings, assist with game management as necessary and other duties as assigned.

  • Support College leadership in developing departmental goals and objectives as part of the

institution's continuous improvement cycle; includes participating in the college wide

accreditation process by preforming departmental planning, assessment, and improvement to meet core

theme objectives and contribute to mission fulfillment.

  • Performs Other Duties and Special Projects as Required/Assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

A minimum of an Associate's Degree

Successful applicants for this position must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities,

or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using the English language with

or without the use of an interpreter.

  • Ability to effectively communicate orally with groups and/or individual, and deal with peers,

the public and the community in a positive, empathetic and professional manner.

  • Working knowledge of and a commitment to intercollegiate men’s basketball rules and regulations.

Demonstrated success in recruiting a full roster of athletes.

  • Ability to follow established procedures and work independently to accomplish those procedures.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and carry out activities independently. Strong time management skills

to support efficient work production and meet deadlines.

  • Ability and willingness to manage a flexible work schedule with self-discipline, including

travel, various hours and possible weekends/evenings, as well as work-days at other College

locations.

  • Ability to model and ensure diversity and cultural competency in all position responsibilities
