Overview
The GB Rowing Team is seeking a full-time High Performance Coach to work within its world-leading Paralympic Programme on the road to the LA 2028 Paralympic Games.
Great Britain topped the rowing medal table for the third Paralympic Games in a row at Paris 2024, winning medals in four of the five Paralympic boat classes (three gold, one silver). The successful candidate will work as part of a tight-knit coaching and support team alongside their Olympic counterparts as part of a One Team approach at GB Rowing Teams National Training Centre in Caversham, Reading.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide world-class day-to-day coaching and facilitate a daily training environment that supports the development of GB Rowing Team rowers within the National Training Centre to be the best in the world. Prepare crews of international standard for the World Championships and Paralympic Games.
- Design and lead the implementation of crew and individual development plans that underpin performance development and medal delivery for rowers under your direction. Conduct performance reviews to ensure effective implementation and evolution of these plans.
- Design and implement bespoke seating, prosthetics, and training aids as required to maximize rowers' function on water and land-based training environments.
- Support the Paralympic Head Coach with training camps and competitions to ensure world-leading training and racing environments.
- Collaborate with the Paralympic Head Coach, Pathway Coach, and Talent Coach to review rower progress, inform selection/de-selection, and support pathway programs, international classification, and performance squad development.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have coached crews to high-level domestic or international success and aspire to develop future World and Paralympic Champions. Experience working with people with disabilities is not mandatory but the ability to tailor coaching approaches to individual athletes is essential.
Minimum Requirements
- Proven ability to develop rowers (able-bodied or Para) to high-level results or international success
- Ability to coach effectively under pressure in high-level domestic or international environments
- Experience in evaluating performance data and communicating insights to athletes
- Capability to tailor coaching approaches to individuals while fostering a team culture of elite performance
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and set achievable targets
- Commitment to building a unified coaching team that values contributions and works collaboratively
- Creative problem-solving mindset and proactive attitude
- Self-motivated with a focus on excellence and attention to detail
- Full driving license
