Job summary

Finlay Jude Associates Ltd seeks an experienced Gateman / Traffic Marshal to support wastewater treatment projects across Greater Manchester. You will control site access, verify CSCS cards and inductions, and act as a banksman for safe vehicle movements.

Applicants should hold a CSCS Card and Traffic Marshal certification, with prior gateman experience and a strong focus on health & safety. The role requires reliable, punctual individuals who can work independently on busy sites.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Control access to the site, ensuring only authorised personnel and vehicles enter.
• Check CSCS cards, inductions, and visitor sign-in procedures.

• Maintain accurate site access and delivery records.

• Monitor entrance for safety, security, and traffic flow.
• Report any unauthorised access, unsafe behaviour or incidents promptly.
• Assist site teams with general duties as required.
• Keep gate area clean, organised and hazard-free.
• Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures at all times.

FJA are currently recruiting for an experienced Gateman / Traffic Marshal to assist on Wastewater Treatment Projects on behalf of our client, with sites based across Greater Manchester.

Gateman Role

• Controlling access to and from site, ensuring only authorised personnel and vehicles are permitted entry
• Checking CSCS cards, inductions, and visitor sign-in procedures are followed
• Acting as banksman to safely guide vehicles and plant movements on site
• Directing deliveries to appropriate areas and liaising with site teams
• Maintaining accurate site access and delivery records
• Ensuring all personnel wear correct PPE before entering site
• Monitoring site entrance for safety, security, and traffic flow
• Reporting any unauthorised access, unsafe behaviour, or incidents immediately
• Supporting site teams with general duties where required
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and hazard-free gate area
• Following all site health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times

Gateman Requirements

• CSCS Card (Essential)
• Traffic Marshal / Banksman certification (Essential)
• Previous experience working as a Gateman or Traffic Marshal within construction, utilities, or infrastructure
• Experience within wastewater or water treatment environments advantageous
• Strong awareness of health & safety procedures
• Good communication skills and ability to work with site teams and visitors
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Able to remain alert and manage multiple tasks in a busy site environment
• You must be able to make your own way to site
