Position Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Network Lead, the Gas Trainee Operative will assist the Main Layer in tasks to ensure high-quality service within the gas distribution network.
Gas Trainee Operative Fitter Responsibilities:
- Carry out work on the network as instructed, including mains replacement, new service installations, district governor maintenance, dial before you dig, mains surveying, and service disconnections.
- Perform general duties as required by the business in other functions.
- Assist the Main Layer in responding to PREs and other network issues.
- Support routine and non-routine maintenance on the gas network and equipment.
- Provide technical assistance in hazard resolution.
- Collect and report operational data related to the gas network.
- Collaborate with the team to resolve hazards, investigate leaks, and manage events.
- Ensure minimal disruption to customers and work efficiently.
- Work with contractors and liaise with the public and external agencies on-site.
- Participate in the emergency call-out rota (one week in four annually).
