Job summary

Liberty Gas Group in Cardiff is seeking a Gas Supervisor / Technical Team Leader to lead a high-performing team of Gas Engineers across the area, delivering work safely, compliantly and to high standards.

You will mentor engineers, drive engagement and continuous improvement, with regular toolbox talks and a focus on customer satisfaction. This role offers growth, a supportive culture and opportunities to influence service delivery.

Qualifications

• CCN1, HTR1, CKR1, CENWAT certificates and full UK driving licence are essential.
• Strong knowledge of domestic gas servicing, maintenance and repairs.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and support a team of Gas Engineers, driving engagement and high performance.
• Deliver toolbox talks and promote health, safety and compliance.
• Ensure repairs, maintenance and installations are safe, efficient and to standard.
• Drive productivity, quality and first-time-fix performance.
• Conduct field visits to support engineers and monitor service delivery.
• Build and maintain client relationships through regular communication.
• Monitor compliance, inspections and audits for quality and accuracy.
• Support planning and resource allocation to maximise efficiency.
• Manage escalations and resolve operational issues promptly.
• Meet contract KPIs and customer satisfaction targets.
• Inspect vehicles, PPE and equipment regularly; deputise for senior management as needed.

Gas Supervisor / Technical Team Leader - Cardiff

The Role

As a Gas Supervisor / Technical Team Leader, you'll be responsible for leading and supporting a team of Gas Engineers across the Cardiff area. You'll ensure work is delivered safely, compliantly and efficiently while maintaining excellent levels of customer and client satisfaction.

Managing a team of engineers, you'll play a key role in driving engagement, performance and continuous improvement across your area.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and support a team of Gas Engineers, driving a culture of engagement, accountability and high performance
• Deliver regular toolbox talks and promote best practice across health, safety and compliance
• Ensure gas repairs, maintenance, installations and planned works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards
• Drive productivity, quality and first-time-fix performance
• Conduct regular field visits to support engineers and monitor service delivery
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and engagement
• Monitor compliance requirements, inspections, audits and surveys, ensuring high levels of accuracy and quality
• Support operational planning and resource allocation across your area to maximise efficiency and minimise travel time
• Manage escalations and resolve operational issues in a timely and professional manner
• Ensure contract KPIs, business objectives and customer satisfaction targets are achieved
• Complete regular inspections of vehicles, van stock, PPE and equipment
• Deputise for senior operational management when required
• Identify opportunities for service improvements and continuous improvement initiatives

What We Need From You

• Strong technical knowledge of domestic gas servicing, maintenance and repairs
• Good IT skills and confidence using business systems
• Strong understanding of health & safety and compliance requirements
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• A proactive, organised and solution-focused approach

Experience

We welcome applications from:

• Experienced Gas Supervisors or Technical Team Leaders, or
• Experienced Gas Engineers with a minimum of 5 years' industry experience who are looking to progress into a leadership role

Previous experience managing engineers, technical teams, repairs and maintenance operations or social housing contracts would be advantageous.

Desirable

• SMSTS or IOSH qualification
• Experience within social housing, repairs and maintenance environments
• Experience managing operational performance against KPIs and service delivery targets
