The Gas Plant Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of cryogenic units. The role includes monitoring plant parameters, troubleshooting process issues, and ensuring operational integrity while complying with safety and environmental regulations. As an expatriate, the operator brings specialized knowledge and trains local personnel in best practices and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver Process Engineering guidance and recommendations on critical aspects of system design, operational practices, and control strategies. This strategic input aimed to enhance overall facility performance, improve efficiency, and optimize operational workflows.
- Lead and direct plant commissioning and stabilization efforts for gas processing facilities. This involves the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of all commissioning phases to ensure a smooth and efficient transition to stable operations and optimal output.
- Optimized cryogenic processes within the gas plant to maximize the recovery and quality of valuable liquid yields, consistently meeting stringent client specifications and aligning with key company goals and annual objectives for production and product quality.
- Develop and execute advanced process simulations and sophisticated troubleshooting strategies to accurately diagnose complex operational issues and implement effective resolution plans. This proactive approach minimizes downtime, improves diagnostic accuracy, and ensure the continued optimal performance of the gas processing plant.
- Provide strategic Process Safety & Risk Management leadership by facilitating Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Management of Change (MoC), and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) reviews. This ensured adherence to the highest safety standards and the implementation of effective risk mitigation strategies across the entire facility.
- Provided comprehensive advice and clear explanations to operations personnel on a wide range of issues related to daily plant operation, ensuring a strong understanding of processes and promoting effective decision-making in the field.
- Generate detail and insightful reports on potential equipment and system failures, contributing valuable information to enable proactive maintenance strategies and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.
- Meticulously monitor and track critical operational limits and windows, proactively identifying and preventing multiple potential operational deviations, thereby ensuring the stable, safe, and reliable operation of the gas processing facility.
- Execute plant startup and shutdown procedures with strict adherence to established operational guidelines, ensuring seamless process stabilization during startup and minimizing potential disruptions or safety incidents during shutdown events.

Qualification and Skills:
- Technical Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in cryogenic or gas liquefaction plants (e.g., LNG, LIN/LOX, Helium, Hydrogen).
- Proven experience working in an expatriate role or multicultural environment .
- Strong understanding of cryogenic processes, P&IDs, and DCS operations.
- Hands-on experience with rotating and static equipment typical to cryogenic plants.
- Knowledge of SCADA/DCS systems such as Emerson DeltaV, Siemens PCS7, or Honeywell.
- Solid understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices; NEBOSH, OSHA, ISO certifications are where applicable.
