Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland, a leading facilities management company, seeks a Gas & Heating Engineer to deliver integrated gas and mechanical service across the East and West Midlands. You will cover three Nottingham schools with a company vehicle and fuel card provided, following CAFM-driven preventive maintenance and reactive tasks.

Ideal candidates hold commercial and domestic gas qualifications, demonstrate strong fault-finding skills, IT proficiency (Excel/PowerPoint) and a UK driving licence.

Qualifications

  • Industrial and commercial gas, heating and plumbing maintenance experience.
  • Ability to forecast requirements, budgets and scheduling expenses for gas, plumbing and mechanical departments.
  • Proficient in fault diagnosis and preventive maintenance in line with CAFM system work orders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in forecasting requirements, creating a budget and scheduling expenses for the gas, plumbing and mechanical department
  • Fix and maintain plant and equipment on site in line with SFG20 recommendations
  • Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and provide preventive maintenance services
  • Supervise gas, plumbing and mechanical works when new projects are undertaken
  • Undertake PPM’s as issued from the CAFM system and ensure they are closed out within the prescribed timescale
  • Undertake reactive maintenance activities within the prescribed timescale to ensure rectification times are met
  • Provide updates to the CAFM team regarding asset condition to inform forward maintenance budgeting

About The Role

Days of Working: This position will be based out of Nottingham and covering areas across the East and West Midlands, working Monday to Friday 07:00 to 15:00, 08:00 to 16:00. Flexibility required due to operational needs.

Additional Info: The role is to cover three schools in Nottingham, all within a span of 15 mins of each other. A company vehicle and Fuel card for business use will be provided.

As a Gas & Heating Engineer at OCS, your primary goal is to deliver an integrated gas and mechanical service to the contract. You will focus on continuous service and cost improvements by identifying, promoting, and implementing innovative systems, processes, procedures, and products.

To deliver a gas and mechanical integrated service to the contract and to deliver continuous service and cost improvements through identification, promotion and implementation innovative systems, processes, procedure, and products.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in forecasting requirements, creating a budget and scheduling expenses for the gas, plumbing and mechanical department
  • Fix and maintain plant and equipment on site in line with SFG20 recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and provide preventive maintenance services.
  • Supervise gas, plumbing and mechanical works when new projects are undertaken.
  • Undertake PPM’s as issued from the CAFM system and ensure they are closed out within the prescribed timescale.
  • Undertake reactive maintenance activities within the prescribed timescale (as detailed by the CAFM work order) to ensure the rectification times are met, whether temporary or permanent rectification.
  • Whilst carrying out the PPM activities, provide updates to the CAFM team in relation to the condition for each asset in order to inform the forward maintenance budget but also assist any lifecycle decisions which need to be taken to specific assets across the sites.
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
  • Must have Right to Work in the UK and willingness to undertake a DBS.
  • Commercial Gas Qualifications: TPCP1A/ICPN1/CORT1/COCN1 (or CODNCO1)/CDGA1/CCP1
  • Domestic Gas /Qualifications: CN1/CKR1/CPA1
  • Proven experience delivering gas, heating, and plumbing maintenance services within commercial and/or educational environments.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills across gas and mechanical systems.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • UK driving licence.
Desirable:
  • Appointed Person LV qualification, or willingness to work towards certification.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification (training can be provided).
  • Legionella legislation certification and/or Responsible Person qualification.
  • Experience working within a CAFM system environment.
  • Knowledge of lifecycle asset management and planned maintenance programmes.
