Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Gas & Heating Engineer to deliver integrated gas and mechanical services across commercial/educational environments. You will forecast requirements, budget expenses, and supervise gas/plumbing/mechanical works on site, with reactive and preventive maintenance duties.

Applicants must have UK Right to Work, a DBS willingness, and a valid UK driving licence. You will work at Shotton Hall Academy, Peterlee, and engage with CAFM-driven PPMs and lifecycle asset decisions,

Qualifications

• Must have Right to Work in the UK and willingness to undertake a DBS.
• UK driving licence.
• Proven experience delivering gas, heating and plumbing maintenance in commercial/educational environments.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills across gas and mechanical systems.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel/PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist in forecasting requirements, creating a budget and scheduling expenses for gas, plumbing and mechanical department.
• Fix and maintain plant and equipment on site in line with SFG20 recommendations.
• Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and provide preventive maintenance.
• Supervise gas, plumbing and mechanical works on new projects.
• Undertake PPMs from CAFM and close out within timescales.
• Undertake reactive maintenance per CAFM work orders to ensure rectification times.
• Provide updates to the CAFM team about asset conditions to inform budget and lifecycle decisions.

About The Role

Days of Working: This position will be based at Shotton Hall Academy, Peterlee, working Monday to Friday and every other week on call including weekends.

As a Gas & Heating Engineer at OCS, your primary goal is to deliver an integrated gas and mechanical service to the contract. You will focus on continuous service and cost improvements by identifying, promoting, and implementing innovative systems, processes, procedures, and products.

As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to

• Assist in forecasting requirements, creating a budget and scheduling expenses for the gas, plumbing and mechanical department
• Fix and maintain plant and equipment on site in line with SFG20 recommendations.
• Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and provide preventive maintenance services.
• Supervise gas, plumbing and mechanical works when new projects are undertaken.
• Undertake PPM’s as issued from the CAFM system and ensure they are closed out within the prescribed timescale.
• Undertake reactive maintenance activities within the prescribed timescale (as detailed by the CAFM work order) to ensure the rectification times are met, whether temporary or permanent rectification.
• Whilst carrying out the PPM activities, provide updates to the CAFM team in relation to the condition for each asset in order to inform the forward maintenance budget but also assist any lifecycle decisions which need to be taken to specific assets across the sites.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria

• Must have Right to Work in the UK and willingness to undertake a DBS.
• UK driving licence.
• Commercial Gas Qualifications: TPCP1A/ICPN1/CORT1/COCN1 (or CODNCO1)/CDGA1/CCP1
• Domestic Gas /Qualifications: CN1/CKR1/CPA1
• Proven experience delivering gas, heating, and plumbing maintenance services within commercial and/or educational environments.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills across gas and mechanical systems.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Desirable

• Appointed Person LV qualification, or willingness to work towards certification.
• NEBOSH or IOSH qualification (training can be provided).
• Legionella legislation certification and/or Responsible Person qualification.
• Experience working within a CAFM system environment.
• Knowledge of lifecycle asset management and planned maintenance programmes.
