Job description

Gas Engineer Apprentice

Starting salary £22,056 with increases in line with successful completion of modules

Course Duration - 4 years

Located in our Washington depot with a start date of 1st September

During training, travel will be required to the Training Centre (with accommodation provided) in York

We now have two exciting opportunities to join us as a Gas Engineer Apprentice across our network based at our Washington depot. In years one and two, you will undertake your Gas Network Operative Level 2 (GNO) qualification. Following successful completion, in years three and four, you will progress to achieve Gas Network Craftsperson Level 3.

At the end of your apprenticeship, you will be qualified as a Team Leader working across our gas network. The specific opportunities may vary and will depend on business needs in four years. Further post-apprenticeship development opportunities may also be available for high performers.

The day-to-day responsibilities as an NGN Gas Engineer Apprentice include, but are not limited to:

  1. Responding to emergency situations
  2. Working on maintenance and repair works within our gas pipe network
  3. Using a wide range of tools and specialist equipment
  4. Using laptops, tablets, and mobile phones to update your work progress
  5. Working in sometimes remote locations, in all weather conditions
