Gas Engineer Role - North East England

We are seeking a Gas Engineer to operate across North East England, supporting residents with reactive repairs in our property portfolio. The role involves working on a planned route, carrying out service repairs, assisting with breakdowns, and installing new systems.

All gas work must comply with The Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 and Mears Gas Procedures. Responsibilities include performing gas repairs and maintenance in domestic premises according to work orders, maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The applicant must be gas qualified with current Domestic ACS certification. Completing and maintaining all relevant paperwork and electronic records for audit and invoicing is required. Seek authorization for work differing from the original order and document additional work. Manage stock and materials, report safeguarding concerns promptly, and participate in emergency call-out cover when needed to ensure contract compliance and service user satisfaction.

Role Criteria:

  • Qualified to City and Guilds/Gas Service Engineer standard with appropriate ACS certifications (CCN1, CENWAT, CPA; CKR1 and HTR1 are preferable but not essential)
  • Good understanding of current legislation, building control, and governing body requirements
  • Experience with heating boilers, central heating, piping, plumbing, and valves
  • Reliable individual; open to potential extra hours with a call-out rota
  • UK Driving License
  • Entitlement to work within the UK; visa sponsorship is not offered
  • Must be over 21, hold a license for over 3 months, and have less than 9 points to drive a Mears vehicle
  • All roles are subject to DBS/Security checks before employment
