Job description

Gas Engineer

£49,908 per annum | South London

Take pride in solving the problem and leaving someone's home safe and warm? We'd like to hear from you.

We're recruiting a Gas Engineer for a community-focused housing association in South London. Joining its repairs team, you'll put your technical skills to work in residents' homes, delivering quality repairs, reliable heating and a service people can count on.

An organisation with its community at heart. This is a not-for-profit, resident-led housing association where the people living in its homes have a real say in how it operates. Its commitment goes beyond maintaining properties, with community projects and partnerships helping to improve life across the neighbourhoods it serves.

Taking ownership of each job, you'll aim to complete repairs first time wherever possible, keep residents informed and leave work finished to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Gas and central heating servicing, repairs, fault-finding, installations and remedial works.
  • Associated plumbing and other works needed to complete the job.
  • Planning your workload, managing vehicle stock and recording work accurately using a tablet or handheld device.
  • Working safely and coordinating with colleagues and contractors.
  • Participating in call-out rotas and flexible working arrangements when required.
What you'll bring

You’ll be an experienced Gas Engineer who takes pride in their work and understands that how you treat someone in their home matters just as much as the repair itself.

You’ll need:
  • Current CCN1, FGA1, CENWAT, HTR1 and CKR1 certifications.
  • An NVQ in your trade, or equivalent, and a full driving licence.
  • Experience delivering maintenance and repairs in occupied homes.
  • A sound understanding of safe working practices and risk assessment.
  • Good communication, practical problem-solving skills and confidence using digital job systems.
  • Social housing experience would be welcome, along with practical skills in associated trades.

Interested?

If you enjoy varied, hands-on work and want to use your skills within a community-focused organisation, we'd love to hear from you.
