Job Description:

Mode Search is delighted to be partnering with a leading UK supplier in the recruitment of a Garment Technologist. This long-standing, design-led business is recognised for its strong ethical values, full ownership of its manufacturing process, and collaborative team culture. With over 50 years of successful trading and an exciting period of growth underway—including expansion into two new product categories—they continue to deliver high-quality womenswear and childrenswear for major UK high street retailers.

The role is based in London and reports into the Technical Management team. This is a full-time, on-site role focused on womenswear. The position has become available due to retirement, with no internal successors identified.

The Role

  • Manage the fit and quality process for womenswear garments, from development through to production.
  • Prepare and inspect all samples ahead of fit sessions, including pressing, specing and tagging.
  • Liaise closely with factories to ensure technical requirements are met and communicated effectively.
  • Maintain and update all customer workbooks and critical path information.
  • Write up fit comments, follow up on amendments, and upload approvals to PLM systems.
  • Collaborate with design, pattern cutting and sales teams to resolve technical queries.
  • Review and assess garments for construction, production feasibility and compliance with brand expectations.
  • Participate in research and competitor analysis to support continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to tech pack preparation, sealing samples, and tech file management.
  • Provide occasional guidance and knowledge-sharing with junior team members.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years’ experience as a Garment Technologist, ideally within a high street supplier or retailer environment.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, fitting, and pattern cutting.
  • A relevant degree in Fashion, Textiles or similar.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple styles across tight timelines.
  • Confident communicator with strong collaboration skills across departments and with factories.
  • Highly organised with great attention to detail and a methodical approach.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and web-based PLM systems.
  • Commercial awareness and a passion for developing technically sound, quality garments.
  • Positive, proactive and solution-focused mindset, with a strong team ethic.
