A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A GARDENER AT CROWNE PLAZA READING

What you'll be doing...

Reporting to the Maintenance Director, you can expect your working day to include the following.

• To assist with the general garden maintenance.
• To turn over the soil regularly to install and maintain seasonal plants.
• To mow, trim and fertilise grasses and green spaces.
• To mulch, edge and weed gardens.
• To maintain trees, bushes, hedges by pruning and trimming.
• To maintain all gardening equipment and machinery (e.g., mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers).
• To monitor and maintain the health of indoor and outdoor plants.
• To clear the leaves regularly to ensure the hotel entrance being clean and tidy.
• To keep gardens and green spaces clear of debris and litter.
• To assist colleagues and other members of staff to create teamwork and quality service through communication.
• To adopt a ‘can do' attitude towards all aspects of customer service through a proactive and flexible approach to meeting customer needs
• The successful applicant for this role will deliver excellent customer. service, have a positive ‘can do' attitude, be willing to learn and show that they care.

To succeed in the role of Gardener, you will need the following qualities and skills.

• Relevant experience in property maintenance or building trades.
• Excellent relationship building and rapport building skills.
• Experience as a Gardener.
• A love of the outdoor and indoor plant life.
• Familiarity with landscaping design.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations for landscaping.
• Knowledge of regional plant life.
• The ability to lift heavy objects.
• The ability to remain on your feet for long periods of time.
