The Best Connection are seeking a committed and experienced Gardener to join our client within the local authority in Derbyshire. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the appearance of public spaces, ensuring they are safe, clean, and welcoming for residents and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake general grounds maintenance duties across parks, open spaces, cemeteries, highways, and other council-managed land
  • Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on mowers, strimmers, and other powered equipment
  • Weed control, including manual weeding and application of herbicides.
  • Litter picking and removal of green waste from work sites
  • Record work activities, report defects, and comply with health and safety procedures at all times
  • Provide excellent customer service and engage respectfully with members of the public when required
  • Work as part of a team and independently to meet service standards and deadlines
  • Experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, or a similar outdoor manual role
  • Ability to undertake physically demanding work in all weather conditions
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • A full UK driving licence is a must
  • A flexible approach and willingness to work in a variety of outdoor environments
