Job summary

British Garden Centres is the UK's largest family-owned garden centre group with 80 centres nationwide. We are looking for a Team Leader to work in our fast paced, customer-focused centre in Harrogate. The role is full time, permanent, 40 hours per week including some weekends.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated with excellent people skills, and able to manage duties such as opening/closing, scheduling, training, while ensuring health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Prior supervisory experience in retail or garden centre preferred.
• Strong customer service and teamwork skills.
• Able to work on own initiative and manage time effectively under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Supervise store operations including opening/closing as key holder.
• Organise team schedules and address staff issues.
• Provide training and guidance to employees; support project completions.
• Ensure health and safety and company policies are followed.
• Maintain high and consistent customer service standards.

We are looking for a Team leader to work in this fast paced and very customer focused Centre. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, approachable and have excellent people skills with a positive “can do” attitude plus a keen eye for detail.

The successful candidate should be physically fit as this is a very hands on role and some heavy lifting will be involved.

Experience in building or similar retail experience is preferred.

Duties will include:

• Supervising duties including key holder opening and closing store as required
• Excellent customer service.
• Organising team schedules and any staff issues.
• Evaluating employee performance and providing training and guidance as needed.
• Filling in for absent employees and assisting teams as needed to successfully complete projects.
• Ensuring that employees follow company policies as well as health and safety regulations.
• Ensuring a high and consistent standard of customer service.
• Business compliance in accordance with Health and Safety and food safety laws and regulations.
