Garden Centre Manager - Outdoor & Team Leadership Focus
Location: South London

This is a fast-growing, independent business with a passion for plants, design, and community. Over the last decade, they've grown from a single site into a small group of boutique garden and home stores across London. Blending horticultural expertise with lifestyle retail, their spaces are thoughtfully curated and rooted in local communities. Known for their high levels of service, stylish indoor and outdoor product ranges, and growing reputation for plant installations in homes and commercial spaces, they've carved out a distinct identity in the market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day management of the store's operations and team.
  • Take ownership of rotas, staffing levels, performance assessments, and one-to-ones.
  • Ensure the store is consistently well-stocked and visually appealing.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and motivate the team to do the same.
  • Coach and support staff on service and sales skills, product knowledge, and team development.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and processes.
  • Oversee stock levels, deliveries, and in-store merchandising - especially around plant deliveries and replenishment.
  • Report on performance KPIs and assist with recruitment and onboarding of new team members.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A natural people person - confident, charismatic, and customer-focused.
  • Great horticultural knowledge.
  • Experience leading teams in a retail or hospitality environment (garden centre experience is welcome but not essential).
  • Organised, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on retail setting.
  • Physically fit and happy to work alongside the team - this is not a back-office role.
  • Enthusiastic about plants, gardening, and homeware.
  • Comfortable managing team performance and driving standards.
