Job description

Boundary Oak School is a co-educational day and boarding school set in 30 acres of beautiful Hampshire countryside outside Fareham, very close to Portsmouth and Southampton. It provides a friendly, family environment in a place rich in history, character, and charm.

A Boundary Oak school leaver or graduate gap placement is a rewarding opportunity for gap year students or graduates who are thinking about a career in teaching while gaining paid experience and enhancing their CV before committing to a PGCE or teacher training course.

The school is looking for talented school leavers or graduates who want to gain hands-on experience in a particular school department. The role also requires the successful candidate to be part of the boarding team and provide support in either the school office, the marketing department, the Sports and Games department, or as a teaching assistant in any school division. A talent in a particular subject and/or sports such as hockey, netball, football, cricket, or rugby would be advantageous.

All food and accommodation are included.

To be a Gap Assistant, you must be a confident communicator who can encourage pupils of all ages and abilities. Most importantly, you will feel passionate about a career in education.

Being a team player and having a good sense of humour is essential when joining the Boundary Oak team. The role does require the successful applicant to live on-site, rent-free, with all meals provided during term time.

Pay for graduates would be higher and negotiable, depending on their experience and qualifications.

For those who want extra work during the holidays, there is also the option of working at the Holiday Club with a generous hourly rate of pay.

Boundary Oak is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects its staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post is subject to enhanced DBS checks and suitable references.
