Job Description:

Who we are:

We see our employees as individuals, empowering them to make the right choices for their ambitions and careers. We value our people as vital to our continued success and aspire to a diverse, open and inclusive environment that provides the motivation for everyone to pursue their career goals and flourish.

When you work for Activate Learning, you’re working for an organisation that provides you with the advantages of a large employer, a trusted partner in your career development, and a transformational way of working whilst also investing in building a community environment for everyone.

Together, we will bring out the best version of yourself.

About the role:

Are you a Games Development and Coding professional or a Games Design Graduate? Would you like to share your skills and knowledge to help shape the future talent in your industry?

You may not have considered a job like this before, and you may not have direct experience of teaching or a teaching qualification, but what is more important is that you have a passion and enthusiasm for developing and nurturing the next generation of Gaming professionals.

You will work collaboratively with our existing team of talented and passionate teachers to ensure we plan and deliver purposeful practical and theory lessons up to level 3. Our students are eager to learn and we want to appoint someone who can provide them with a high level of knowledge and skills, that they can utilise in their careers within the Games development or Games design sector.

Activate Learning has an excellent record of delivering vocational Gaming courses with employability embedded at their heart. This is achieved through excellent relationships with industry and the employment of experts with extensive professional experience within the teaching team.

This is a permanent, part-time role working 25 hours per week (0.68 FTE) at our Banbury and Bicester College Campus.

What do you need to be successful as a Games Development Teacher at Activate Learning?

We are looking for people who can act as role models for our students and ensure that they leave us with not just their professional qualifications, but the attributes required to progress in the world of work.

You will have the ability to expose students to a wide range of skills including:

  • Using industry standard software, such as Unreal Engine, Blender, construct 2, 3DS Max, Mudbox unity and Adobe Suite
  • 2D and 3D sculpting and modelling
  • Animation and visual effects
  • Gaming research techniques

Whilst previous teaching experience would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. As long as you have relevant subject qualifications and can demonstrate the attributes to be an inspirational teacher, we can provide you with the necessary training, development and support to equip you to teach in the FE sector.

Your communication and interpersonal skills will be outstanding and support your ability to deliver interesting and purposeful lessons to a diverse range of learners. You will also have strong organisation skills coupled with the ability to prioritise workloads and will benefit from being part of a supportive team, working in a varied and interesting role with a variety of opportunities for career development.

Why work with the Activate Learning Group?

Here are some of our benefits:

  • Enrolment into generous pensions schemes
  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Excellent on-site facilities including free onsite parking, refectory facilities, Hair and Beauty salons
  • An extensive Learning and Development programme with a range of CPD opportunities
  • Specialised support and development for teaching staff
  • Access to qualified coaches for all staff
  • Leadership and Management development programmes
  • Flexible working opportunities, where appropriate
  • A comprehensive wellbeing programme including access to the Fika and Everymind app
  • Mental Health support including access to Mental Health First Aiders
