Job description

Elevation will re-establish the boundaries of VR. We’re looking for a talented Gameplay Programmer to help us explore, create, and deliver world leading innovation in software and VR hardware. You will play a critical role in developing innovative gameplay systems essential to our gameplay experiences within Virtual Reality.

As Gameplay Programmer, you will be responsible for prototyping and collaborating with a diverse team of engineers and developers, capable of creating genre leading titles. Help us to drive the discovery, implementation and refinement of intuitive and inspirational VR games.

The rundown:

12-month Fixed Term Contract

Full time (37.5 hours per week)

Fully remote within the UK

Salary competitive and dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities:

Collaboratively discover, design & build the fun within a cross-discipline team.

Grow the core gameplay systems into production-ready code, supporting other disciplines in creating robust and performant game content.

Learn, innovate, and evangelize VR mechanics and conventions, and help drive industry and VR platform innovation.

Work within an agile sprint-based ‘fail-faster succeed-sooner' methodology when discovering and exploring gameplay content.

Break down and estimate timescales for your tasks.

Work with your peers to ensure our code is clean, organised, documented and easy to maintain.

Be a positive behavioral and mental role model for the team and studio.

Requirements

Two or more years of professional game programming experience, with a shipped title on a current-generation console, PC or VR headset.

Unreal 4 or 5

Deep knowledge of C++ including high-performance programming

Demonstrable experience at owning and delivering game features or systems

Strong communication skills with a focus on positive cross discipline teamwork

Proven, demonstrable knowledge of game development processes, real-time implementation, optimization, and cross platform development

Experience in rapid prototyping and creative problem solving

A committed team player, recognizing the importance and value of people within a technology environment

Passionate about creating award winning VR titles.

Desired experience:

Experience of VR game development

Confidence in communicating technical complexities and risks clearly and concisely, to non-technical staff

Strong competitor analysis – the ability to critique and deconstruct competitor video games

A willingness to ‘muck in’ at any level to get the job done

Comfortable working in an Agile environment and responsive to change in the face of uncertainty

Approachable and light-hearted, with a good sense of fun and a positive mental attitude
