For 30 years, we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley. Rebellion is more than just games; we also have our own film studio, create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as Judge Dredd.

We are seeking an experienced Gameplay Programmer to join our code team for exciting, unannounced projects. Be part of a large-scale project, crafted by a seasoned team renowned for creating exceptional shooters.

Your role as a Gameplay Programmer will involve developing and implementing gameplay code using our in-house proprietary engine, ensuring integration aligns with technical constraints and project goals.

This opportunity can be based in Oxford, Warwick, or Runcorn, offering flexibility, collaboration, and the chance to work with a world-class team. We provide a relocation package, including moving assistance, temporary accommodation, and support for a smooth transition.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute gameplay code, including developing and testing complex classes with intricate functionalities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to promote a positive work environment.
  • Resolve bugs efficiently and address performance issues promptly.
  • Conduct pre-commit testing to prevent issues and maintain code quality.
  • Comment code thoroughly and adhere to coding standards.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Monitor progress and manage tasks using Jira.
  • Assist team members and participate in backlog assessment and prioritization.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming and understanding of object-oriented development.
  • Experience with at least one published console or PC game, contributing to gameplay mechanics.
  • Experience in crafting multi-threaded code for performance.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling, milestones, and delivery.
  • Knowledge of best practices in the video game industry.
  • Passion for shooters and/or cooperative gaming experiences.
