Job summary

Big Potato, based in Clerkenwell, London, is hiring a Game Designer to dream up and develop brand new games. No prior game design experience is required, we welcome fresh ideas from diverse creative backgrounds and ask you to test, iterate and pitch with confidence.

You'll work on outputs that reach players while keeping inclusivity and sustainability at the core, with a four-day week and a strong benefits package. This role is on-site in London with a team of about 80.

Qualifications

• Experience turning rough ideas into playable concepts.
• Ability to test ideas with users and iterate.
• Strong habit of testing work and acting on feedback.
• Strong sense of what makes something fun and engaging.
• Willingness to pitch and defend ideas to others.
• Good organisational skills: manage people, deadlines and follow-ups.
• Curiosity about culture, trends and how people play.
• Clear writing to explain ideas simply and what was learned.

Responsibilities

• Create new games by turning briefs into playable concepts.
• Build and test rough versions and gather feedback from team and players.
• Spot what's next by watching games and culture and generating ideas.
• Pitch ideas confidently and tell the story behind them.
• Help launch products with clear play instructions and samples.
• Design inclusive games and consider accessibility and carbon footprint.
