We are looking for a new artist to join our team at Light & Wonder to help create the next level of online slot entertainment. Join us in advancing our own IPs and creating exciting games with our licensed partners.

Job Description

The Game Artist is responsible for creating and developing high-quality content and game imagery based on specific game mechanics, storyboards, and briefs. They will collaborate with other members of the art team to create stunning assets for projects and games. They should be able to work in various styles, follow briefs, and also create designs, illustrations, and animations from sketches.

Working closely with other artists, animators, and developers, the Game Artist’s work is vital in maintaining the high graphical fidelity our games are known for. Typical contributions include:

• Design of characters and props (realistic or cartoon style)
• Environments, backgrounds, and textures
• Creation of interfaces, symbols, logos, and menus
• Animation within Esoteric Spine

The Game Artist must deliver high standards of game art, follow intellectual property and copyright guidelines, meet deadlines, and ensure quality and visual consistency. They should produce assets quickly and efficiently, proficient in tools like Photoshop/Creative Suite, with a keen eye for composition, anatomy, and color theory.

Applicants should include a portfolio showcasing various styles, including:

• Strong character design
• Well-designed props/non-organic design
• Rendered backgrounds

The portfolio should demonstrate skills in 2D illustration, texturing, animation understanding, asset output for development, and working within branding restrictions. Ability to express concepts through sketches and knowledge of layout practices are also important.

Beneficial Skills

• Animation within Esoteric Spine
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Illustrator, etc.)
• Familiarity with Maya 3D software
• Experience in a studio environment with collaboration between artists and developers

Qualifications

Preferred but not essential:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Three to five years’ experience as an artist in online gaming, video games, or multimedia, with a supporting portfolio
