Comhairle nan Eilean Siar seeks a Gaelic Medium Primary Teacher for Uist Schools (9320) on a 21-hour-per-week maternity cover basis. Salary is £27,009 – £33,442 per annum, including £1,798 Distant Islands Allowance.

The successful candidate must hold an appropriate degree and GTC Scotland registration, with Gaelic fluency essential. Duties include teaching, curriculum development, pupil assessment, and supporting school priorities.

Qualifications

• A degree or diploma and GTC Scotland registration are required.
• Gaelic fluency is essential for this Gaelic Medium post.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned classes with preparation and correction.
• Develop the school curriculum.
• Assess, record and report on pupil work.
• Prepare pupils for examinations and assist with exam administration.
• Provide advice and guidance to pupils on education issues.
• Promote and safeguard pupils' health, welfare and safety.
• Work in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals.
• Undertake continuing professional development.
• Participate in school planning, raising achievement and reviews.
• Contribute to good order and wider needs of the school.
