We are recruiting for a Grade 6, Head of Core Finance in our Finance, Commercial, Sustainability and Property (FCSP) Directorate. The Head of Core Finance will report to the FCSP Director and co-lead the agency’s finance function alongside the Head of Strategic Finance. The role involves representing the finance function in strategic decision-making and supporting organizational change.

This position offers exposure to the Executive Leadership Team and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will develop and implement the agency’s finance strategy and manage finances sustainably in a challenging and evolving operational environment, including supporting major insolvency cases in response to economic conditions.

The Head of Core Finance will lead and develop the senior leadership team within the finance function.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities include:

• Managing external audit processes and reporting to the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee and the Insolvency Service Board.
• Providing information and assurances to HMRC and DBT regarding the Agency’s involvement in the National Insurance Fund audit and representing the Agency at the National Insurance Fund Accounting Board.
• Advising the Accounting Officer to ensure compliance with key standards and HMT publications.
• Maintaining and improving the Agency’s compliance with Finance and Debt Standards, and fostering strong internal and external relationships.
• Overseeing Income Accounting and advising decision-makers on income matters.
• Ensuring effective Working Capital and liquidity management, engaging with the Government Banking Service, and complying with HMT cash management requirements.
• Supporting System Accounting initiatives, including the delivery of FCMC and the New Finance System Discovery Project.
