We are recruiting for a Grade 6, Head of Core Finance in our Finance, Commercial, Sustainability and Property (FCSP) Directorate. The Head of Core Finance will report to the FCSP Director and will co-lead the agency’s finance function with the Head of Strategic Finance. This role involves representing the finance function in strategic decision-making and supporting organizational change.

The successful candidate will have exposure to the Executive Leadership Team and external stakeholders, playing a key role in developing and implementing the agency’s finance strategy. The role requires working at pace to support operational needs, especially around major insolvency cases in a challenging economic environment.

You will be responsible for leading and developing the Core Finance senior team and managing key financial activities, including external audits, compliance, income accounting, liquidity management, and system accounting projects.

Responsibilities:

• Manage external audits and liaise with stakeholders to ensure accounts endorsement and statutory compliance.
• Oversee information provision to HMRC and DBT regarding the National Insurance Fund audit and represent the Agency at the NIF Accounting Board.
• Advise the Accounting Officer to ensure compliance with standards and HMT publications.
• Maintain and improve the Agency’s compliance with Finance and Debt Standards, building strong internal and external relationships.
• Oversee Income Accounting and advise decision-makers on income matters.
• Ensure the Agency’s Working Capital policy and liquidity position are adequate, and manage Treasury engagements.
• Support system accounting initiatives, including FCMC delivery and the New Finance System Discovery Project.
