At Russett School, we aim to prepare our learners for life by developing skills to reach their full potential. Our specialist curriculum emphasizes communication strategies and life skills. We provide enriching, safe environments where pupils develop independence and well-being for a happy, fulfilled future.
Russett School caters to pupils aged 2 to 19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and/or Complex Learning Needs. We are part of Shaw Education Trust. Our bespoke curriculum is designed specifically for learners with SLD, addressing their cognitive and learning impairments, and supporting additional needs such as communication and interaction challenges.
Pupils learn in mixed-ability classes of around 11, supported by a team of 4 adults, including a class teacher and three Teaching Assistants.

Our special settings support children and young people with diverse needs, from medical conditions to social, emotional, and mental health challenges. All pupils receive individualized education in small, supported classes, helping them reach their goals and make a difference in their lives.
We operate a diverse range of schools, including primary, secondary, and special schools, across Birmingham to Bury. Sponsored by Shaw Trust, a charity dedicated to transforming lives, we strive to provide high-quality education to children of all backgrounds and abilities.
32.5 hours per week, term time plus 5 inset days, totaling 39 weeks per year.
