We are looking for a highly skilled reliability engineer to provide critical support for the Foreign Exchange (FX) desk with their trading and risk applications, including the algorithmic ultra-low latency stack. In this role, you will ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of the real-time trading environment by applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. You will engage directly with key stakeholders on the trading floor, including senior traders and lead developers, to optimize trading workflows, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive continuous improvement in both processes and the environment.

The ideal candidate will be a problem solver who thrives in high-pressure environments, balances technical expertise with business insight, is a strong communicator capable of discussing complex technical issues with a range of stakeholders, has a deep understanding of support roles in large, complex technology organizations, and is passionate about automation, with hands-on experience in building tools to reduce manual effort and operational risk.

What we’ll offer you

A healthy, engaged, and well-supported workforce is better equipped to do their best work and enjoy their lives inside and outside the workplace. That’s why we are committed to providing an environment focused on your development and wellbeing.

You can expect:

  • Competitive salary and non-contributory pension
  • 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, with options to purchase additional days
  • Life Assurance and Private Healthcare for you and your family
  • Flexible benefits including Retail Discounts, Bike4Work scheme, and Gym benefits
  • Support for CSR initiatives + 2 days’ volunteering leave annually

Your key responsibilities

  • Incident Management: Respond rapidly to production incidents, minimize downtime and financial impact, lead root cause analysis, and conduct blameless post-mortems
  • Monitoring & Automation: Improve application health monitoring and implement automation to reduce manual efforts and enhance system resilience
  • System Optimization: Drive cost efficiency and manage capacity resources for scalable operations
  • Collaboration: Work with development teams to design and deploy fault-tolerant, scalable solutions aligned with business goals
  • Governance & Compliance: Follow change, incident, and problem management policies, and adhere to bank-specific non-financial risk frameworks
  • Mentorship: Support junior team members and foster a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement

Your skills and experience

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization (Kubernetes, Docker), and CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of trade lifecycle, trading systems, FX products, market structure, or algorithmic trading is advantageous

How we’ll support you

  • Training and development opportunities
  • Coaching from team experts
  • Culture of continuous learning
  • Flexible benefits tailored to your needs
