Job summary

Citi in London seeks a hands-on software engineer to build cross-border FX payments and custody solutions using cloud-native technologies and CI/CD. You will design architecture, collaborate with end-users, and improve delivery quality while mentoring juniors and ensuring robust production support in a hybrid setup.

The role requires strong Java/Spring skills, low-latency expertise, and experience with messaging systems; Openshift/Kubernetes knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or above in a STEM discipline.
• Hands-on Java + Spring with ultra-low-latency development.
• Strong SQL/Databases skills and messaging tech like Kafka/Solace/MQ.
• Experience writing production-scale apps with caching tech.
• Excellent communication; comfortable with cross-functional teams.
• Awareness of Openshift, Kubernetes, and KDB knowledge is a plus.

Hands on technical implementation of Cross border FX payments and custody solutions using modern, cloud-native technologies and CI/CD workflows, focusing on consolidation, automation, and scalability. Drive the design and development of system architecture, work with end-users of the systems, and enhance the quality of deliverables Ensure staff follows Citi documented policy and procedures as well as maintain desktop procedures and supporting documentation for filings on a current basis and in comprehensive manner The successful candidate will work with teams across FX Technology implement solutions that benefit the business Collaborate with stakeholders across sales , trading , Quants and Product team to understand Payments needs, translate them into impactful data-driven solutions, and deliver these in partnership with technology. Design, Development, Testing of new features in the applications. Continual improvement of the software development lifecycle and quality of the product. 3rd line support of the production system (dedicated 24h support teams handle 1st / 2nd line). Mentoring junior members of the team. Contribute to defining and implementing best practices and processes for the department and ensure transparency and consistency across teams

Master’s degree or above (or equivalent education) in a STEM discipline. Proven experience in software engineering and development, and a strong understanding of computer systems and how they operate. Hands on Experience in Java , Spring, Understanding of ultra-low-latency development practices. Proven understanding of FX highly preferred Well versed with AI coding tools like Devin , Claude code and Codex and delivered production grade applications. Proven track record of building new systems, replacing legacy systems and renovating existing systems Strong skill set in SQL / Databases Strong understanding of Messaging tech like Kafka, Solace , MQ etc. Writing production scale applications to use the Caching technologies. The candidate will have systems (software, hardware, networks) knowledge required to define solutions and trouble shoot issues Exceptional communicator who loves working with people, confident communicating at all levels from an individual team to the entire enterprise Highly credible hands on engineer, confident to deep dive into a product and codebase and offer detailed, constructive analysis and feedback Awareness of industry trends and leveraging new technologies as appropriate Будет плюсом: Understanding of Openshift , Kubernetes, KDB knowledge
