Position: Cover Supervisor ( Future Teacher Programme)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full- time, term- time only
Salary: £ 90–£ 110 per day ( depending on experience)
Are you a recent graduate or aspiring teacher considering a career in education? Do you want to gain practical classroom experience before committing to teacher training?
We are working in partnership with a number of secondary schools across the South Manchester area – including Chorlton, Didsbury, and Wythenshawe – who are seeking graduates or confident individuals to join their Future Teacher Programme as Cover Supervisors starting in September 2025 .
This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to gain hands- on experience in a classroom setting and develop the essential skills required for teacher training in the near future ( e. g., PGCE, School Direct, Teach First).
Key Responsibilities:
Delivering pre- prepared lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher
Managing pupil behaviour in line with school policy
Supporting pupils’ learning, ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard
Reporting on student progress to heads of department
Building rapport with pupils and becoming a valued member of the school team
Gaining insight into planning, assessment and pastoral responsibilities
What We’re Looking For:
A degree ( any subject) – 2: 2 or above preferred
A passion for education and a genuine desire to become a teacher
Strong interpersonal skills and confidence managing groups of young people
Experience working with children or young people ( paid or voluntary) is highly desirable
Adaptability, initiative, and resilience
Full- time, consistent work in one school or across multiple schools in your area
Ongoing CPD, including Cover Supervisor training and safeguarding
Access to the Future Teachers Programme through Teaching Personnel
A clear pathway into a school- based initial teacher training route
Supportive school environments that promote staff development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
