The Role - Future Power Markets Senior Lead Analyst

A strategic leadership role guiding a team of analysts to support the development of future electricity markets and the delivery of the Strategic Markets Programme. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development of advanced data models to forecast power market trends and prices.
  • Overseeing data-driven research to inform key strategic decisions.
  • Mentoring analysts in data processing, modelling, and visualisation.
  • Producing high-quality analytical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Driving continuous improvement in market analysis methodologies.
  • Presenting complex insights clearly to senior leadership.
  • Championing innovation in power market research and data analysis.

Essential Requirements:

  • A relevant third-level qualification in data science, economics, or power systems, with a strong background in data analysis and modelling within the energy sector.
  • Proficient in analytical tools such as Python, R, and Excel for handling large datasets.
  • Proven experience in leading analytical teams and managing complex data-driven projects.
  • Skilled in engaging with stakeholders to gather requirements and share insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to a range of audiences.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with the Irish SEM, European power systems, or TSOs, with a good understanding of electricity market operations, including Transmission and Balancing Markets.
