Description:
We are hiring for our client, a forward-thinking organisation driving the transition to a low-carbon energy system in Northern Ireland, for the role of Future Power Markets Senior Analyst. Based in Belfast with hybrid working (3 days in office, 2 remote), this opportunity offers the chance to be part of a specialist team at the forefront of electricity market innovation. As a Future Power Markets Senior Analyst, you will play a key role in providing high-value analysis and insight that shapes the evolution of electricity markets and supports strategic decision-making. The Role

As Future Power Markets Senior Analyst, you will:
• Lead the development of advanced models to forecast market trends and power prices
• Support data-driven strategic decision-making across energy system planning
• Build robust analytical frameworks and develop high-impact market insights
• Present complex data clearly to senior stakeholders and decision-makers
• Contribute to market analysis that informs policy, operations, and commercial development
• Implement continuous improvements in analytical methodology and reporting
• Take an innovative approach to research, ensuring relevance in a rapidly changing sector

The Person

You will have:
• A relevant third-level qualification in data science, economics, or engineering
• 3+ years’ experience in data analysis or modelling, ideally within the energy sector
• Strong technical skills in Python, R, and Excel, with proven ability to work with large data sets
• Experience in data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex technical data clearly

Desirable (not essential):
• Experience working with the SEM or other European power systems
• Familiarity with electricity market operations and mechanisms (e.g. RESS, LDES)
• Knowledge of market modelling software (e.g. Plexos)
• Understanding of decarbonisation policy and market codes
• Experience working within a regulated utility or market environment
