Job description

The Club Manager will oversee gym operations to ensure an exceptional “Judgement Free” member experience and a financially successful club. The manager will lead a team of employees positively, with ongoing training and development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high-performing staff including Assistant Managers, Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for members, prospective members, and guests; ensure staff follows superior customer service standards.
  • Staff Management
    • Schedule staff and cover all shifts.
    • Lead by example, maintain accountability, and coach staff to adhere to PF’s values and goals.
    • Manage weekly/bi-weekly employee payroll processing.
    • Resolve employee issues or concerns.
    • Handle disciplinary and termination activities.
    • Participate in front desk activities: answering phones, member check-ins, new member sign-ups, tours, and member requests.
    • Ensure gym opening/closing is prompt.
    • Oversee cleanliness and maintenance, including daily cleaning responsibilities.
    • Ensure safety of employees, members, and property.
    • Communicate equipment repair needs promptly.
    • Manage marketing efforts, ensuring staff awareness and training on promotions.
    • Authorize expenditures, refunds, and make daily bank deposits.
    • Prepare HR forms and coordinate with Corporate Payroll.
    • Track and report statistics regularly.
    • Provide backup support during employee absences.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Fluent in both English and Spanish.
  • Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.
  • Experience as a Gym/Fitness Center Club Manager or Planet Fitness Assistant Manager within the last 5 years.
  • Exceptional leadership, diplomacy, and listening skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
  • Hardworking, enthusiastic, energetic.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 18 years old.

Physical Demands

  • Stand and walk continually during shifts.
  • Talk in person or on the phone regularly.
  • Work at least 45 hours weekly.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally encounter toxic chemicals.

Compensation: $45,000 - $60,000 per year.
