Job summary

UK Atomic Energy Authority is seeking an experienced IT and Software engineer to support the MAST-U infrastructure and data systems. The role involves ensuring availability of diagnostic and data acquisition software on Linux and Windows platforms, with development work across multiple projects under supervision.

You will work with scientists and engineers to understand requirements, deploy software, and explore new technologies to improve data integrity and facility operations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience developing software in Python/C/C++ on Linux and Windows.
• Deployment of software on Linux and Windows.
• Experience with Serial, TCP/IP, ModBus, OPC; DevOps using Docker and Ansible.
• Web technologies like JavaScript, Node.js, REST services.
• IT administration for Linux or Windows devices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve software for diagnostic control and data acquisition systems for MAST-U.
• Manage and upgrade MAST-U data infrastructure (network switch, data servers, update servers).
• Work with scientists and engineers to understand their data acquisition and control requirements.
• Research and evaluate the applicability of new technologies for the team.
