Job summary

UK Atomic Energy Authority is seeking a MAST-U Infrastructure and Software Engineer based at Culham, Oxfordshire. This on-site role operates five days a week with flexibility options and includes a salary of £43,702 inclusive of a Specialist Allowance, subject to BPSS/DBS checks.

You will provide IT administration for Linux and Windows, support data infrastructure and diagnostics, and contribute to software development projects and data acquisition hardware design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience developing software in Python and C/C++ on Linux and Windows.
• Experience deploying software on Linux and Windows platforms.
• Experience with Serial, TCP/IP, ModBus and OPC protocols; DevOps using Docker and Ansible.
• Experience with web technologies like JavaScript, Node.js, REST services.
• Experience with IT administration for Linux or Windows devices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve software for diagnostic control and data acquisition systems.
• Manage and upgrade MAST-U data infrastructure (network switches, data servers, update servers).
• Work with scientists and engineers to understand data acquisition and control requirements.
• Research and evaluate the applicability of new technologies for the team.
