Furniture Technician (Part-Time)

Location: Kettering, UK

Salary: Up to £14,850 per annum

Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Are you practical, detail-oriented, and passionate about working with physical products? We're currently recruiting for our client for a Furniture Testing Technician to join their busy Furniture department in Kettering. Our client is a world-renowned centre of excellence in furniture testing, training, and innovation.

This is a part-time role, ideal for someone with a technical mindset and strong organisational skills, looking to contribute to meaningful safety and quality testing in the furniture industry.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and condition furniture for testing
  • Conduct physical testing on cabinets, tables, and bedframes to British, European, and international standards
  • Keep laboratory spaces clean and organised; assist with moving furniture samples
  • Plan and schedule testing in coordination with clients and the Head of Furniture
  • Maintain accurate training and testing records
Essential
  • Minimum GCSE Grade C / Grade 5 or above in Maths, English, and Science
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to follow instructions and work to tight deadlines
  • Good time management, planning, and scheduling abilities
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Positive, adaptable attitude
Desirable
  • Experience in the furniture industry or with consumer product testing
  • Forklift truck experience
