Job description

Job Title: Furniture Buyer

Company Overview: We are recruiting for a Furniture Buyer for an expanding and well-established company based in the Plymouth area.

Salary & Benefits: Very competitive salary DOE, benefits package, 21 days’ annual leave (plus bank holidays), long service awards, cycle-to-work scheme, and a company discount scheme.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.45 am to 5.30 pm.

Role Description:

As a Furniture Buyer, you will work closely with the Head of Buying to develop relationships with new and existing suppliers, ensuring maximum efficiency and value for the business. This is a permanent, full-time role based at the head office in Plymouth.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maximize sales, margins, and profitability within a fast-moving and diverse category.
  2. Implement product strategies and ensure the business meets customer needs.
  3. Monitor and review competitor information and market trends, and develop new ideas to keep the product offering relevant.
  4. Lead reviews, supplier negotiations, promotions, and pricing strategies.
  5. Contribute to delivering excellent product availability and quality as part of a cross-functional team.
Experience & Skills Required:
  • Previous buyer experience, specifically within the furniture industry.
  • Awareness of new and upcoming trends in furniture.
  • Strong understanding of consumer behavior and marketplace dynamics.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with suppliers and team members effectively.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders internally and externally.
