Job description

Job Title: Furnace Technician

Due to continued growth, we are currently recruiting for a Furnace Technician to work with a well-established engineering company near Halesowen. The Furnace Technician will be responsible for collaborating with the maintenance management team to plan and supervise contractors, focusing on furnace reliability, survey schedules, and instrument calibrations.

Shift Pattern:
  • 06:00-16:00, four days a week
  • 06:00-14:00, five days a week (rotating shifts)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all furnaces are operational daily.
  • Verify that qualified furnaces operate within specified parameters, sign off charts, and maintain daily logs.
  • Attend to and repair furnace faults.
  • Conduct weekly system accuracy tests (SATS) on all qualified furnaces and document results.
  • Perform monthly preventative maintenance on all furnaces.
  • Plan and review furnace instrument calibration certificates, maintaining records.
  • Manufacture, calibrate, and re-calibrate Type R thermocouples, maintaining records.
  • Replace Type K thermocouples, keep records, and issue calibration certificates with details of location, issue date, and next calibration due date.
  • Maintain all calibration records accurately.
  • Complete Furnace Survey Reports.
  • Assist in other departments as required.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
Candidate Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Furnace Technician (essential).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
  • Experience in heavy engineering (desirable).
