Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Furnace Manager for a long-established industrial site in South Wales. This senior, hands-on role oversees furnace operations across multiple shifts, driving production and performance improvements on-site.

You will lead skilled shift leaders and furnace operators, coordinate scheduling and resources, and work with metallurgists and process engineers to implement continuous improvement, ensuring safe and efficient high-capacity furnace operations.

Qualifications

• Experience managing industrial furnaces or smelter operations preferred.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Knowledge of production planning and process optimisation.
• Hands-on problem-solving ability in a multi-shift industrial environment.
• Confident in managing a team of experienced operators and team leaders.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations across multiple furnace shifts, ensuring production targets are met.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of shift leaders and furnace operators.
• Oversee scheduling, resource allocation, and shift performance to ensure operational efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with metallurgists and process engineers on trials and process improvements.
• Monitor furnace performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, yield, and team performance.
• Maintain clear communication across all shifts, supporting a consistent and high-performing team culture.
