Job description

We're looking for an empathetic, well-organised individual to join our team at Ginns & Gutteridge Funeral Directors, Loughborough as a Funeral Service Specialist (Level One). You'll take the lead in running the branch day to day, supporting families and building trusted local relationships, with training to guide families through Funeral Plans and support ceremonial duties when needed.

Our Mission:

To help every family in Britain navigate the hardest moments of life with simplicity, dignity, kindness and exceptional care.

Our Vision:

The UK's leading end-of-life company, helping 1 in 3 people across the UK to plan for and deal with death.

Why This Role Matters

Being a Funeral Service Specialist means playing a central part in one of life's most significant moments. You're often the first person a grieving family turns to, and your presence can shape how they remember the most difficult of days.

Your Impact and Responsibilities

This role calls for empathy, confidence and attention to detail - guiding people through funeral arrangements with care, introducing the support we offer, and making sure every detail is taken care of.

As a Funeral Services Specialist, you will:

  • Support families with empathy, professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Arrange funerals that meet family wishes, cultural practices and legal requirements, with clarity, compassion and precision.
  • Oversee day-to-day branch operations, including administration and presentation.
  • Build relationships with suppliers, care homes and local community groups - including ministers, celebrants and florists.
  • Lead chapel visits as required, supporting families with their requests.
  • Raise awareness of funeral plans and contribute to plan sales within the branch.
  • Train in Funeral Conducting to assist with ceremonial duties during peak times.
  • Compassionate, calm and empathetic in emotionally sensitive situations.
  • Experience in customer service, care or admin is beneficial (full training provided).
  • Strong communication, organisation and administrative skills, confident with legal paperwork.
  • PC literate - Microsoft Office, Outlook and internal systems (training provided).
  • Confident working independently with branch-level responsibility.
  • Comfortable in settings where the deceased may be resting, including chapel visits.
  • Willing to work flexibly, including weekends/on-call if needed.
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Dignity Funeral Directors helps families say goodbye to the people they love with simplicity, dignity, kindness and exceptional care. Every day, our funeral teams across the country support families through some of life's hardest moments. As part of Life Services Group, Dignity Funeral Directors is also part of a wider mission to make end-of-life care more joined up, more supported and easier for families to navigate. Be there when families need you most; with work that matters, a team that supports you, and the training to build a career, whether you've done this before or not.

Dignity Funeral Directors is part of Life Services Group; the group bringing together Dignity Funeral Directors, CMG, Simplicity Cremations, Dignity Legal Services and Farewill. Together, we can support families across more of the end-of-life journey, while each brand keeps the name, identity and community connection people already know. For Dignity Funeral Directors, that means more investment in better training, better support and better tools for our funeral teams.

You’ll be part of a close-knit team who look out for each other and take real pride in their work. No two days are the same, and the work you do is noticed and valued.
