Heart of England Co-operative Funerals is seeking a Funeral Service Operative based at our Rugby care centre to provide compassionate care when bringing the deceased into our care and during funeral transport.
The role requires a full UK driving licence, a 39-hour core week with on-call, weekend hours, and the ability to work under pressure; training will be provided, and background checks including DBS may apply.
At the Heart of England Co-operative Funerals we are a small, independent, regional business operating through 14 funeral homes in Coventry, Warwickshire, South Leicestershire, and Northamptonshire serving our client families to the very highest standards with our committed team of experienced professionals.
We are looking for a Funeral Service Operative who will provide an exceptional level of care when bringing the deceased into our care and whilst out on the day of the funeral. These colleagues need to have superb driving skills to transport our client families in comfort and safety in our ceremonial Hearses and Limousines. The role will require you to work effectively as part of a team, as well as being able to work on your own initiative and sometimes under pressure. We need a person who is caring as well as empathetic to the needs of our clients and our colleagues. Attention to detail is a prerequisite.
This role is based at our care centre in Rugby and we would prefer our applicants to be within a 5 mile radius. Working a core of 39 hours per week between our locations, there will also be additional hours working evening and weekends when participating in our ‘On call’ rota outside of normal office hours. The successful candidate will ideally have some experience in the Funeral Industry however this is not a requirement as full training will be provided once in post.
If you’re successful in your application, we’ll perform some background checks as part of our pre‑employment screening process. These will include a basic DBS (disclosure and barring service) check.

Salary starting from £25,775 per annum (pro rata), with an increase after twelve weeks probation, with additional hours and On Call payments OTE is circa £29k per annum
