Job summary

Co-op Funeralcare in Ipswich is seeking a Funeral Director to balance managerial and client-facing duties. You will be the main contact for families, manage service delivery, and coordinate with a wider team to meet KPIs and standards.

The role requires empathy and commercial focus, with on-call involvement (evenings and weekends). No prior funeral industry experience is required, making it accessible for compassionate individuals with strong people skills to join a caring team.

Qualifications

• UK manual driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure client needs, service levels and KPIs are met.
• Be the main point of contact for clients; support with the wider team.
• Support funerals—conduct the ceremony, lead the team and assist with lifting the deceased when needed.
• Refer all regulated work, including funeral planning appointments, to a certified colleague.
• Build and maintain relationships with team, clients and the community.

Funeral Director

£29,776 per annum (£15.27 per hour) plus benefits

Full time 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm - as part of this role, you'll also be part of the on call rota (including evenings & weekends)

Ipswich, IP1 4LS, including cover for funeral homes in Southend, Essex area

No experience needed.

Please note all positions within Funeralcare can involve direct physical contact with the deceased as part of normal duties – the amount of contact will differ dependant on role applied for.

Typical duties include but are not limited to preparation, transportation, and personal care of the deceased to be carried out with professionalism, dignity, respect and adherence to health and safety standards.
