You will develop fundraising strategies, engage with staff and donors, and manage events to support the Trust. At East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust our vision is to be widely recognised for providing safe, personal and effective care. This is a key post in helping to ensure that we meet ambitious fundraising targets for our hospital Trust, developing our existing fundraising activity and creating new opportunities to raise income to enhance patient and staff experience.
The post holder must have experience in a fundraising role, including planning and delivering fundraisers to achieve targets and the motivation to research/implement new and existing activity that encourage donors to support ELHT&Me.
The post holder will work closely with teams across the charity and our Trust to ensure that our activities encourage and attract growing support.
The ideal candidate will bring not only the gravitas and innovation to deliver exceptional results but also the creativity and ambition to see the charity's support increase across East Lancashire.
In collaboration with the Fundraising Team, develop and deliver the Fundraising Strategy to raise awareness, engage support, drive fundraising and increase charitable income.
Be responsible for increasing our key stakeholders, as well as expanding our charitable engagement activities in the areas of events and fundraising. Build and deliver branded campaigns mixing traditional and online, ensuring key messages are consistently delivered.
Responsible for growing relationships with organisations, identifying and exploiting positive opportunities to ensure ELHT&Me is selected as their chosen charity.
Act as the Charity’s representative with donors and supporters, delivering talks and information to engage, inform and develop support.
Responsible for capturing relevant content at events and fundraising activities for the charity’s social media activity. This may also include live reporting at events.
Deliver profit and loss planning documents for fundraising activities to ensure planned and managed working. This includes volunteer planning and maximising opportunities with sourcing any required tombola, raffle and fundraising items.
Ensure online and offline fundraising campaigns are integrated and digital channels are used effectively for retention and development of supporters.
The approximately 10,000 members of staff that makeup ELHT are at the heart of our trust, and look after us throughout all of our lives. ELHT&Me supports the patient journey in many different ways and being part of that small team is hugely rewarding.
Nurture relationships with hospital staff to encourage creation of and participation in fundraising activities and events and lifting the profile of the charity internally
To build relationships internally, especially with senior clinicians and with external prospects for cultivation that will also strengthen the wider (charity) community
To build relationships with nursing staff and management, to encourage a clear and sensitive understanding of the importance of In Memory, tribute funds and legacies
Support fundraising volunteers, ensuring that their activities comply with best fundraising practice and legal frameworks, whilst building a micro-volunteering bank to support fundraising activities.
Develop and train key volunteers capable of taking a more active role in assisting in event management or other fundraising or administrative activities
Support team to recruit fundraising Ambassadors within our Care Organisations and across the communities of East Lancashire.
Administrative Duties
Effectively deal with internal and external enquiries, either in person, on the telephone or via email using initiative to redirect queries as appropriate.
Be responsible for the development and maintenance of a Charity events calendar.
Be aware and ensure compliance of relevant charity legislation, policies and procedures, Fundraising Regulator’s Codes of Practice and the latest GDPR regulations.
To ensure that a positive image of the hospital and the Charity is projected at all times
To hold a flexible approach to working hours (the role will require the post holder to work evenings and weekends as necessary).
To hold a flexible approach to work when asked to take on other fundraising or admin duties when the team needs to cover holidays, or at times of workload pressure.
To adopt a supportive and collegiate approach when working with the fundraising team and other colleagues within the hospital

Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS)
If the role you are applying for is identified as either controlled or regulated activity as defined in in the Safeguarding vulnerable Groups Act (2006) any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.
The healthcare sector is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied. Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary. However, if you are applying for a post as a BANK worker, the payment must be made in full at the time of employment checks. By applying for this vacancy you are agreeing to this undertaking in the event you are successfully appointed.
The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £55.38 and for a Standard Disclosure will be £27.38.
This cost is not applicable for a Volunteer post
