Job Description:

Introduction to our Funding Assurance team

Education providers can obtain funding from central government (the Education and Skills Funding Agency, ESFA, now part of the Department for Education, DfE) for post-16 delivery. The DfE also devolves adult education funding (adult skills fund) to MCAs, including the GLA. This includes 16-19 study programmes, T Levels, apprenticeships, adult education budget, and more.

The Funding Assurance team monitors data reported to ESFA/DfE and GLA/MCA clients to identify errors in funding claims by education providers, ensuring government funds are used correctly. The team collaborates with funding assurance specialists and the wider Public and Social Sector Risk Consulting team.

Role & Responsibilities

The training will vary based on your experience:

  • Understand detailed funding rules from DfE, MCA, GLA;
  • Plan and perform compliance testing, build relationships with education providers;
  • Provide verbal feedback and draft reports summarizing work and conclusions;
  • Prepare testing papers and reports on time;
  • Organize tasks, assist with special assignments, and handle queries;
  • Produce high-quality work and incorporate feedback;
  • Develop ownership of reviews and collaborate effectively with team members.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Knowledge of funding assurance reviews, PDSATs, ILR data;
  • Understanding of funding rules and regulations from DfE, GLA, MCA;
  • Interest in developing expertise in funding rules;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines;
