Qualifications

• ACA, CA, ACCA or equivalent accounting qualification required.
• Experience in Private Equity / venture capital funds or similar fund structures is essential.
• Experience post-qualifying in-house in a Private Markets setting with closed-ended funds is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with fund administrators and support quarterly fund accounting process.
• Coordinate with investment team to update quarterly valuation packs.
• Support settlement of trades and other investment-related activities.
• Manage year-end audit process and assist with information for annual audits.
• Assist with quarterly investor reporting and review carried interest calculations.
• Oversee collection of documents for GP board meetings.
• Manage relationship with Funds depository and support their activities.
• Assist fund administrators with capital call/distribution notices and LP communications.
• Oversee preparation and calculation of quarterly management fees.
• Oversee tax reporting filings across Fund structures and support tax compliance.

Job description

I am delighted to be partnering with a high growth Private Markets fund, looking to appoint a new Fund Controller into a pivotal senior and commercial role. This impressive and slick outfit is lead by some very well known industry veterans, having launched and raised multiple funds in a relatively short amount of time.

This broad role will encompass all aspects of fund accounting oversight, deal support and valuations, but more importantly will be part of a small and collegiate team with day to day exposure to the investment team and pipeline of deals. Given the boutique nature of the business, you're likely to be involved in more than just Fund Operations, making for an exciting as well as career propelling opportunity for an aspiring FD of the future.

Responsibilities:

• Liaise and manage the relationship with the fund administrators, including supporting the quarterly fund accounting process
• Work with the investment team to ensure the quarterly valuation packs are updated and accurate
• Support the investment team in the settlement of trade activity/investments and other transaction related matters
• Manage the year end audit process for the Funds and manage the fund administrators in preparing the required information for annual audits
• Assist with the quarterly investor report process, including the review of carried interest calculations
• Oversee and support the collation of documents for the Quarterly GP board meetings
• Mange the relationship with the Funds depository and support them in their activities
• Assist the fund administrators with preparing capital call/distribution notices, notification letters and any other LP communications
• Oversee the preparation and calculation of the quarterly management fees
• Oversee the periodic and annual tax reporting filings for the various companies within the Fund structures
• Support the Financial Controller with wider tax compliance and reporting matters at the Fund
• Assistance with dealing with investor queries
• Support the implementation of new in-house systems and procedures
• Various ad-hoc tasks

Your background:

• Degree educated with excellent academics and formal accounting qualifications - ACA, CA, ACCA or equivalent
• Likely a few years experience post qualifying working in-house in a Private Equity, Venture Capital, Credit / Private Debt, Infra, Property Fund or similar with relevant experience of working on closed-ended funds
• Excellent communication skills, high energy presence, go-getter mentality, strong work ethic
• Willingness to learn and work outside of comfort zone (i.e. new projects outside of experience/skill set)
• Maturity and gravitas to liaise with senior management and Partners in day-to-day interactions
• Comfortable working as part of a small Finance team, coming up with ideas and helping grow out the team and its capabilities

Salary on offer is in the region of £85-95,000 base plus benefits and high bonus potential.
