Job summary

Alterna Search seeks a commercially minded Fund Controller to join an ambitious investment fund in London hybrid mode. Recently qualified ACA or ACCA from Big Four or leading mid-tier audit background preferred.

You will work across fund finance, investor reporting, portfolio analytics, and due diligence support, partnering with a lean founding team to drive growth and strategic decisions. This is a hands-on role offering broad exposure to fund management, valuations, and fundraising activities

Qualifications

• Recently qualified ACA or ACCA from a Big Four or leading mid-tier audit background.
• Experience auditing funds, private equity, asset management or investment vehicles is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Fund Financial Management: Assist with fund financial management, reporting, and operational finance activities.
• Fund Financial Management: Manage relationships with service providers, auditors, and stakeholders.
• Fund Financial Management: Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and reporting.

Alterna Search has partnered with a dynamic and fast-growing investment fund to appoint a commercially minded Fund Controller.

This is a rare opportunity for a recently qualified accountant to gain hands-on exposure to the inner workings of an investment fund, developing a unique blend of financial, commercial, and strategic experience that can accelerate a long-term career in the investment industry. Working with the lean founding team, you will gain broad exposure across fund finance, portfolio analysis, investor reporting, fundraising, and strategic decision-making. Responsibilities will include:

Fund Financial Management

• Assist with fund financial management, reporting, and operational finance activities.
• Manage relationships with service providers, auditors, and stakeholders.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and reporting.
• Deliver investor reporting, presentations, and performance updates.
• Respond to investor queries and support stakeholder engagement.
• Assist fundraising activities, including due diligence and data room management.

Portfolio Analytics, Valuations & Investment Support

• Monitor portfolio performance, analysing financial and operational KPIs.
• Produce investment analysis, valuations, and management reporting to support decision-making.
• Track investment performance and provide insights to senior leadership.
• Support portfolio reviews, valuation processes, and investment monitoring.
• Contribute to strategic investment projects and initiatives.

Process Improvement & Business Growth

• Enhance financial processes, controls, and operational efficiency.
• Support the adoption of AI, systems, and reporting tools.
• Develop scalable processes and best practices to support growth.

We are seeking an outstanding recently qualified ACA or ACCA professional from a Big Four or leading mid-tier audit background. You will combine strong technical accounting skills with commercial awareness, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive mindset. Experience auditing funds, private equity, asset management, or investment vehicles is advantageous, but not essential.
