* Benefit from flexible working opportunities and access to ongoing training designed to help you grow your expertise in fund management and alternative investments.
What you'll do:
As a Fund Controller based in London, you will play an integral part in shaping the financial landscape of global transportation investments. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with both internal teams and external stakeholders as you oversee all aspects of financial reporting, analysis, accounting controls, and operational oversight. You will be entrusted with reviewing complex investment structures and ensuring that all financial processes are executed efficiently and accurately. By supporting deal execution alongside the investments team and leading due diligence efforts for new transactions, you will contribute directly to the success of high-value projects. Your ability to manage multiple priorities-ranging from budgeting for special purpose vehicles to engaging with auditors-will be key to thriving in this multifaceted role. The position offers you the chance to develop deep expertise in fund management while being supported by a knowledgeable network of professionals committed to your growth.
* Oversee the financial operations of global transportation funds, ensuring all activities align with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
* Review quarterly accounting cycles and financial reporting processes, striving for continual improvement in both content and delivery.
* Manage fund structures operationally by handling cash flow, vendor relationships, investor communications, and day-to-day fund administration.
* Interpret complex investment structures including debt documents, partnership agreements, and sale & purchase contracts to ensure accurate accounting treatment.
* Work collaboratively with the investments team to facilitate seamless deal execution and support effective transaction management.
* Lead financial due diligence efforts for new transactions by liaising with internal teams, portfolio company management, joint venture partners, legal counsel, and third-party advisors.
* Engage regularly with external auditors, tax practitioners, legal advisors, and service providers to maintain compliance and uphold best practices.
* Participate actively in the determination and review of investment valuations across maritime, aviation, and land-based transportation assets.
* Prepare SPV budgets, conduct funding analysis, manage lender relationships, and oversee liquidity positions for various special purpose vehicles.
* Support capital calls, distributions, fee calculations, and other fund-related activities while maintaining strong relationships with clients and consultants.
What you bring:
To excel as a Fund Controller in this prestigious asset management group's London office, you will bring substantial experience from roles focused on fund accounting within sectors such as transportation or private equity. Your background should include hands-on involvement with both open-ended and closed-ended funds as well as limited partnerships. A Chartered Accountant qualification (ACA or ACCA) is essential-ideally complemented by training at a leading accountancy firm-and you should possess up-to-date knowledge of industry trends affecting accounting standards like US GAAP and IFRS. Your interpersonal skills will enable you to build trusting relationships across teams while your organisational abilities allow you to juggle competing priorities effectively. Experience preparing detailed reports for senior stakeholders combined with technical proficiency in Excel will set you apart. If you have previously worked in fast-moving environments where attention to detail was paramount-and if you thrive when collaborating towards shared goals-this role offers an excellent fit.
* Significant post-qualification experience in fund accounting within transportation, private equity, infrastructure or real estate sectors is beneficial for success in this role.
* Proven track record managing open-end or closed-end funds as well as limited partnerships and operating company investments is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated project management skills including resource organisation, effective presentation delivery, meeting facilitation, and consensus building are required.
* Ability to cultivate dependable relationships internally within finance teams as well as externally across broader business units is vital.
* Experience interacting with senior portfolio managers and asset managers while drawing on collective expertise to resolve issues is important.
* Capacity to handle multiple tasks efficiently while delivering accurate outcomes under tight deadlines is necessary.
* Comprehensive understanding of US GAAP and IFRS standards along with familiarity working under other GAAPs is expected.
* Chartered Accountant qualification (ACA or ACCA) or equivalent is mandatory; Big 4 or mid-sized firm training is preferred.
