Job description

Reports to the Financial Reporting Manager

The purpose of this position is to carry out routine day-to-day accounting of fund and corporate structures, under the direction of a Financial Reporting Manager, in the Real Assets team.

The Real Assets team works closely with clients to support investments into the development and rental / sale of residential, senior residential and student accommodation, as well as commercial and retail space across the UK.

What you'll be doing

  • Assist with all aspects of accounting matters, including the preparation, reconciliation and proofing of management accounts, statutory financial statements, and ad-hoc client or investor queries
  • Developing a thorough understanding of the clients and industry, providing bespoke reporting within agreed deadlines to meet client needs
  • Working closely with a small team of accountants to maintain accurate accounting records, reviewing invoices and journal entries posted into Yardi, eFront or Real Page by junior colleagues
  • Preparing more complex journals and calculations for funds, management companies and associated fund structures within the team
  • Consideration of technical accounting matters under IFRS, UK GAAP and/or Lux GAAP, supported by the Financial Reporting Manager and Technical Team
  • Assist with the completion of routine audit queries
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Assist and support the induction, integration and training of trainee staff, including some level of delegation and support to junior colleagues on an ongoing basis

Skills, knowledge, expertise:

  • The candidate will be expected to be studying towards a relevant professional qualification (preferably having commenced ACCA Fundamental Skills level or ACA Professional level )
  • 2+ years relevant Accounting and / or Financial Statements preparation is essential
  • Computer literacy skills are essential
  • Excellent communications skills and professional manner
  • Ability to work to deadlines and high levels of accuracy
  • Desire to work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues
