Job description

CassonX is delighted to be the exclusive recruiter for this Global Macro Hedge Fund, which is only a couple of years old and has already grown to $1bn AUM. The firm’s leadership team includes the Head Trader, Head of Quant, Lead PM, and Head of Ops, all from one of the world's leading alternative strategy asset managers, with a significant launch and long-term seed investments. CassonX is excited to hire the first dedicated Operations resource for this growing firm. As the initial setup phase has passed and the firm is expanding its front office staff, this presents a fantastic opportunity for a candidate looking to grow with a dynamic organization.

To be considered, candidates should have Fund Accounting experience, either from a Hedge Fund or Administrator, with exposure to various hedge fund structures. While qualified accountants are preferred, this is not essential; relevant experience in hedge fund fund accounting is mandatory. The firm values personable individuals who can confidently communicate internally and externally with senior stakeholders. Knowledge of exotic and structured derivatives, including Options, Exotic Options, and Rates, is highly advantageous. Experience with trade lifecycle management is also beneficial, or a willingness to develop this expertise.

This broad role encompasses all aspects of Fund Accounting and supports wider middle office/operations functions. Responsibilities include:

• Troubleshooting pricing and valuation issues, maintaining valuation policies
• Reviewing fund administrator calculations of NAV and NAV estimates
• Maintaining internal shadow NAV and reporting, ensuring accurate valuations
• Calculating and instructing Share Class hedges, explaining return divergences
• Assisting with annual fund audits and financial statement reviews
• Supporting investor tax reporting processes

Additional operations tasks as needed include:

• Daily fund transaction, position, and cash reconciliations
• Transaction matching and confirmation for derivatives
• Coordination with traders and prime brokers to resolve booking and settlement issues
• New product setup, testing, and static data management
• Monitoring counterparty exposure, collateral, and risk
• Optimizing fund financing and managing related terms
• Maintaining operations policies and procedures
• Participating in system enhancements and process improvements
